Academic Initiatives Office

The Academic Initiatives Office focuses on the planning and implementation of projects designed to promote the quality of teaching in the long term in cooperation with the unit for the promotion of the quality of teaching. Examples of this are the establishment of a training course for practitioners in the Faculty of Engineering, the “Campus Lecturer” and the “Campus Practitioner” will encourage and promote inspiring lecturers and more. The office provides a variety of academic services for students:

  • The Student Union’s database of exams and summaries – are among the most common services among university students. The database was created by students and for them. The online database  contains thousands of summaries, tests and exams with high scores or solutions from a lecturer. Any BGU student union member is eligible to upload content, and receive coupons for it. In addition, there is a physical academic storage – located in the student’s home. Every student is allowed to put summaries in it. Once a semester there is a summaries fair, where students can take summaries free of charge.
  • The Student Union’s lending library – helps students get through the semester without worries. The library offers a variety of books and brochures to borrow for the entire semester at a nominal cost. The library is in the reserved books section of the Arne Library, on the entrance floor.
  • “Meshanim Kivun” – a project made in cooperation between the student union and the unit for the university’s teaching quality development. Selected courses participate in the project, and its goal is to improve the quality of teaching through the use of innovative teaching methods.
  • External courses – courses by private companies that are given to students at significant discounts in accordance with agreements with the student union: psychometric test preparation course – intended for students of the pre-academic preparatory school. Matam test preparation course – intended for students interested in admission to a master’s degree in Psychology.
