About the scholarship:
The “Memadim LeLimudim” scholarship is a scholarship given for academic studies for a bachelor’s or master’s degree or certificate studies in the field of art approved by the Ministry of Culture, intended for discharged fighters and members of special populations after their military service, who have been approved as eligible by the IDF on the day of release from compulsory service.
Who is eligible for the scholarship?
Discharged soldiers, who served full IDF service and have an “honorably discharged” certificate, as detailed: female and male fighters – holders of an “honorable discharge – gold” certificate.
Special Populations:
– Entitled to parental family payments – a discharged soldier who, during his service, was entitled to family payments to his parents, as defined in the military orders.
– Discharged lone soldiers who were recognized as lone until the end of service.
– Discharged new immigrants (Olim Hadashim) – those who were defined during their service as a new immigrant, according to the army’s orders.
– Minorities – a discharged soldier belonging to the Arab, Druze and Circassian population.
Scholarship amount:
The scholarship will be given to those who are eligible is up to 75% of the university tuition fee (10,932 shekels) for each year of academic studies or certificate studies in art for that year, up to a maximum amount of 8,199 shekels (for example – if you paid 12,000 shekels you will receive the maximum scholarship of 8,199 shekels).
Duration of eligibility for the scholarship:
To be eligible, you must begin your studies within 3 years from your military discharge (from mandatory service) until the end of the third calendar year (12.31) from the date of release (for example: if you were released from mandatory service in March 2019, you must start studying within 3 years from the date of release from compulsory service until the end of the calendar year, i.e. until October 2022 – year 2017).
The scholarship is given for each year of study and for a maximum of 3 years of study, and in the subjects of engineering, architecture and medicine, the scholarship will be given for a maximum of 4 years of study.
How to register for the scholarship:
– You must be registered at a recognized institution (Ben Gurion University is recognized by the Council).
– Registration takes place in the online personal area under the benefits/scholarships tab on the website, between the dates 9.11.2022-31.3.2023 (when registration closes, the benefit does not appear in the personal area and it will not be possible to apply for the scholarship), and your eligibility will be checked by the scholarship team.
– If the benefit does not appear in the personal area during the registration period, you must contact the Public Inquiries Officer at the IDF, at 1111 (ext. 5 then ext. 4) to clarify the question of your eligibility to apply for the scholarship.
– After applying for the scholarship, you will receive a message in the personal area confirming your application submission, and you will be asked to upload to the system (in the personal area) a payment sheet/payment card from your educational institution (not receipts) indicating the actual payment. *Please understand that the application confirmation that you have received does not constitute a confirmation of receipt of the scholarship.*
The transfer of a payment sheet/payment card will be possible starting from the beginning of the benefit in November until 30.6.2023. An updated message on the status of the documents will be sent to the personal area and through text messages during the scholarship registration period.
