Department Committees

Want to represent your class year? Want to be more involved in the department? Want to give a little extra to the students studying with you? Your place is in the department committee!

What is the Department Committee’s role?

The department committees are an important and central factor that unites all students in the class year. The committee is a connecting factor between the students and the university and the academic section of the student union. The essence of their role is to be a responsible, efficient and convenient communication channel for promoting the needs of students. The Academic Department sees the departmental committees as a link between the students and the Student Union and between the students and the university and has an important role, which is to help create collaborations and promote academic processes.

The department committee has several important roles:

  • Treatment of collective academic problems
  • Continuous cooperation with the Academy Department
  • Maintaining a social identity in the department.

The students who volunteer for the position of department committee representative receive close supervision from the coordinators of the Academic Department and recognition from the student unity.

When does the committee act?

When there is a collective problem that affects a large part of the students in the department, the department committee undertakes to manage direct communication with the university authority and bring about a quick and optimal solution for all students. It is important to note that the committee acts on behalf of the students in the department even if the problem is not directly related to it. Instead of dozens or hundreds of emails being sent to the same lecturer or head of department, the committee focuses on the issue and drafts one email in the name of the class, thus helping the system to understand and solve the problem. The new department committees are usually recruited as part of the orientation days at the beginning of the year, but it is also possible to join the ranks of the committee during studies.

Individual Problems

When it is an individual problem concerning an individual student, rather than a group of students in the yearbook, the department committee can be consulted. It must be remembered that the appeal to the university authorities will ultimately be made by the students themselves. The purpose of the committee is to concentrate collective problems among the students and to help with general problems. Students can seek advice on individual problems, but the committee does not deal with them. For individual problems, you are invited to contact the academic assistance coordinators in order to receive an academic answer.
