About Us:

The project’s purpose is to create a sense of responsibility, community and solidarity between the permanent residents and the students in the old neighborhoods around the university through the restoration and renovation of the public space. The project is an engine for community activity, helps to create a pleasant and safe space in the neighborhoods, and contributes to the establishment of local bodies that preserve the project’s work. The project applies the principles of placemaking – the design of the public space by the public and according to its needs.

We believe that through joint work it is possible to create a real connection between people, strengthen the sense of belonging to a place, and create a real community.

What do we do?

1. Build and create a common community space together.
2. Connect the city’s permanent residents and the students with the help of community events.
3. Strengthen the affinity and sense of belonging of the permanent residents and the students to the city.
4. Activism is encouraged among the residents.
5. Community routines are held in the project centers.

Where do we operate?

1. The Romantic Park – Ringelblum 9 (across the street from the falafel)
2. The neighborhood garden – Uziahu HaMelech 5
3. “HaChatzer” in Alexander Yanai (behind the bungee)
4. The community garden – Rotenberg 3 (Neighborhood C)

The “Street Making” project, in collaboration with the Urban Renewal Department in Beer Sheva, is promoting a program to accompany tenants, who are interested in improving their building’s exterior and the private open space, through the establishment of a representative office or a building committee and the development of the common space.

The program includes accompaniment throughout all stages of the process and assistance for the renovation of their building’s yard by the Municipality of Beer Sheva and the Directorate for Urban Renewal.

We invite you to apply and participate in this unique project that can change the face of the city.
