The Prevention and Treatment of Sexual Harassment

What is sexual harassment?
Sexual harassment as noted in the The Prevention of Sexual Harassment Law of 1998:

-extortion by threat, when the act that the person is required to perform is of a sexual nature
-repeated propositions of a sexual nature, addressed to a person who has demonstrated to the harasser that he is not interested in the said propositions;
-repeated references addressed to a person and focused on his sexuality, when that person has demonstrated to the harasser that he is not interested in the said references;
-an insulting or debasing reference to a person in connection with his gender or sexuality, including his sexual preference;
-In simple words: any statement or behavior of sexual characteristics with the purpose of offending is sexual harassment.

The above sections relate to all populations without differentiation in sex and gender.
Note: When discussing authoritative relations (for example between a professor and student, or a manager and worker) there is no need to express resistance or lack of interest to the sexual proposal or behavior for the matter to be considered sexual harassment. It is important to know that sexual harassment and harassment based on sexual background are severe disciplinary offenses. The are also criminal offenses and may be liable for damages.

The treatment process in the university is written relevant to all genders.
-If you were sexually abused in the university, you may submit a complaint to the representative for sexual harassment treatment, Professor Esther Priel, in order to treat the complaint according to university regulations.
-You may speak to the representative directly via the contact information listed above, or via the Student Union Director of Sexual Equality and Treatment of Sexual Harassment as listed above. You will remain anonymous unless you decide otherwise.
-The director or representative will explain to you the different treatment options and then you will decide what you would like to do. You may also decide in the end that you do not wish to submit an official complaint, and the treatment process will be terminated and your information will remain anonymous.
-If you decide to submit an official complaint, the representative will conduct an in-depth inquiry with the other factors- the person about which the complaint was submitted and other witnesses, in order to obtain the full picture. After the inquiry, the representative will submit her conclusions to the university president, who will decide about further treatment according to the behavior regulations, and to the university sexual harassment regulations. In addition to the complaint submitted to the university, you may submit a complaint to the police or turn to a civilian procedure.

Treatment of the complaints is done with maximum confidentiality.
